Vibrator
Mari Akasaka, translated by Michael Emmerich
A short Japanese novel — a woman meets a truck driver in a convenience store at night and gets into his cab, and the book follows the road trip north through snow. Almost entirely interior: it's about hunger, touch and the noise in her own head. Filmed in 2003. Nothing to do with the object in the title.
What is in this book
Depicts alcohol dependence and disordered eating, and auditory hallucinations.
